Neil Rumney

Neil Rumney has a remarkable career in electronic music spanning over 30 years.

From a teenage start in pirate radio & creating original beats and hip-hop mix tapes, Neil wrote some of the UKs biggest rave anthems. Never one to get comfortable, Neil formed his own label imprint Smokin Beats, releasingover 50 EPs and an album (mixed by Roger Sanchez of ‘Another Chance’ fame). If you’ve been in clubland in the last few decades, you’d have been raving to Neil’s music.

He has written numerous dance hits under several different hats, including NRG (I Need Your Lovin (the UK’s biggest Rave Anthem with over 6m youtube hits & counting), Smokin Beats (UK national top 20 with Dreams), DJ Flavours(UK national top 20) & 86deep (favourite of DJ legend Todd Terry) to name a few.

With an eclectic range of genres in his recording canon covering everything from Jazz, Hip Hop, Lo-fi, Dub, Breakbeat, Drum & Bass, Houseto UKG, Neil has an ear to create gems in so many styles. He is an adept keyboard player &pianist, beat programmer, producer and arranger. His understanding of electronic music is truly extensive and authentic. He's released music on labels such as Ministry of Sound, Salsoul Records, Strictly Rhythm, AM:PM, Polydor & EMI.

Neil’s own remix duties and productions have seen him work with the Back Street Boys, Sugababes, Jameila, Roger Sanchez, Jocelyn Brown,Tony Humphries, and Frankie Knuckles amongst others. Neil’s musical productions have rocked the best clubs & festivals around the world and has enjoyed acclaim from industry luminaries such as Pete Tong, Masters at Work, Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Giles Peterson, TonyHumphries and Frankie Knuckles.

Recent projects have included specially commissioned works for the movie Shark Bait enabling Neil to show the versatility of his output and give the client something truly authentic. Working to a brief is a perfect fit for a musician with three decades of production under his belt.

Neil’s ability to recreate authentic electronic genres from any decade from 80s to 2020s has seen him enjoy a career that continues to entertain and impress where genres are many and scenes are constantly changing.
